Landlord obligations to BM Solutions

As a major provider of Buy to Let (BTL) mortgages, BM Solutions is keen to promote good practice among BTL landlords.

When we provide a BTL mortgage we expect the borrower to apply equally good practice in their dealings with us and with their tenants. In particular:

  • We expect clients to provide us with accurate information
  • We expect them to understand the legal implications of being a landlord
  • We expect them to understand that they are taking a commercial risk when becoming a landlord
  • We expect them to let us know if they decide to occupy a property
  • We expect them to read and understand their BTL offer pack and the terms and conditions contained therein
  • We expect them to understand that they are responsible for meeting their mortgage payments
  • We expect our BTL clients to be responsible borrowers and to understand that non-payment of the mortgage may put the well-being of their tenants at risk and could lead to the property being repossessed.

We rely on your support, as their financial adviser, in getting these messages across to your BTL clients. When clients have a fuller understanding of all of the issues affecting BTL mortgages, we believe it will lead to better business for us all.
